Don’t Let Your Son Become A Kylo Ren
By now you’ve all seen the movie—or heard the news at least: the main baddie in Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia. He was a troubled young man who became enthralled with the legacy of his grandfather, Darth Vader, and turned to the dark side in order to follow in his footsteps. You may have also seen or heard that Kylo does indeed kill his father, Han, in cold blood. It was a scene that shocked Star Wars fans—even if they knew it was coming. Some viewers felt the moment was forced (no pun intended), because we never got a backstory to Kylo and his life before the dark side. We never saw how he trained with the Knights of Ren after presumably living a life of love and support with his parents. Many wanted to know what life was like in the Solo household and how it was that Kylo—whose given name was Ben Solo—fell in with the wrong crowd.
